UFRT Day 5 : Paris to Geneva

Woah the posts for this road trip have been going on for 2 months! Eeek!  

Let me finally finish this one off....

Day 5 of our France Road-trip was spent walking around Paris for a few hours.  About a year before moving to Geneva I visited Paris when Jim went for work, but am always up for more trips to Paris and discovering new things. Since we only had a few hours we had breakfast, stopped by Notre Damn (still have yet to go inside), cruised by the Louvre and picked up some of the most amazing hot chocolate ever.  Then it was time to hit the road for the 5 hour drive back to Geneva.  And since I drove 90% of the way....no pics :(

UFRT Day 4 : Normandy to Versailles to Paris

Day 4 was Easter, and after breakfast it was time to leave Normandy.  On the way out we stopped at the American Cemetery and Memorial. 

After a few hours of driving we arrived at Versailles.  This could have been the worst traveling mistake ever made as the ticket girl informed us the wait to see the palace was around 2 hours.  She also mentioned Easter was the busiest day of the whole year, doh!  Thankfully after strolling the gardens for an hour we waited 20 min in line for the palace but it was crowded.

After leaving in Versailles we drove into Paris for the night.  This was an add on stop from the original plan, but I didn't mind.  Stopping in Paris is always fun!

UFRT Day 3 : Normandy

Day three of our Ultimate French Road Trip was spent visiting the D-day beaches, museums and memorials in Normandy.  

Arromanches - This is where the artificial harbor known as Port Wilson was built.  During wartime it served as a base for Allied troops taking 600,000 tonnes of concrete and equipment across the Channel.  You can still see remnants of the bridges out in the ocean.
