UFRT Day 4 : Normandy to Versailles to Paris

Day 4 was Easter, and after breakfast it was time to leave Normandy.  On the way out we stopped at the American Cemetery and Memorial. 

After a few hours of driving we arrived at Versailles.  This could have been the worst traveling mistake ever made as the ticket girl informed us the wait to see the palace was around 2 hours.  She also mentioned Easter was the busiest day of the whole year, doh!  Thankfully after strolling the gardens for an hour we waited 20 min in line for the palace but it was crowded.

After leaving in Versailles we drove into Paris for the night.  This was an add on stop from the original plan, but I didn't mind.  Stopping in Paris is always fun!

February Wrap-up

Woah it's June!  Where has the time gone??  It seems like just 2 weeks ago I was complaining the rain would never end and just like that - sunny, blue skies and warm weather for the past 10 days.  Summer is almost here!  Again I have lapsed even further behind on this blog, so here is the wrap up of our February.

After a few blustery cold days it was Valentine's Day.  We celebrated simply and stayed in; Jim brought the flowers and I made the best darn Shepard's pie I've ever cooked up. He loved it.

The weekend after Valentine's we went to Portes du Soleil for a ski weekend with Dorothy and Bob.  Portes du Soleil is a massive ski area encompassing parts of both Switzerland and France and is about an hour and a half from Geneva.  There are more than 5 resort towns and 650 km of pistes.  We stayed in the town of La Chapelle-d'Abondance in France but skied both days from Morgins in Switzerland, about 15 min away.  I was taking ski lessons in Morgins which was the main reason we skied in that area.  But it is possible to ski between the two countries and take lifts back and forth.

Bonne Annee!

New Year's Eve was quiet for us this year.  No rockin' with Ryan Seacrest or fancy 10 course dinner.  We stayed in and had a pretty low key night.  I made some mussels and we had champagne.  I even found a countdown on one of the German channels.  They were broadcasting from Berlin which is in the same time zone. 

Merry Christmas

Christmas is long gone by now, but looking back we had a nice time in the States.  I tried to keep the stress to a minimum but we did have a pretty busy schedule.  Holiday celebrations in 2 different states with 2 families, plus visiting friends and taking care of boring things like Dr. appointments and hair cuts - all in 10 days - can get a bit overwhelming.  Luckily we had a few recovery days when we came back to Geneva.

I took approximately 100 pictures of these three awesome babies, and about 10 of anything else.  You can see what is important. Ha. 

And I got a fancy schmancy new camera from Jim for Christmas :D  Here he is playing around.
